Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating. When the nerves that control the sweat glands become over active, excess sweat is produced. It can have a significant impact on your self-confidence and affect your quality of life. If antiperspirants don’t work for you then it may be worth exploring Botox and Dysport.

HOW DOES THIS PROCEDURE WORK?

Works by blocking the nerves responsible for activating your sweat glands. Usually your nervous system activates your sweat glands when your body temperature rises to cool your body down. In people with Hyperhidrosis, the nerves that signal the sweat glands are overactive. When Botox gets directly injected into the area that commonly sweats, your overactive nerves weaken temporarily.

What CAN I EXPECT DURING THE PROCEDURE?

This treatment works by injecting small amounts of Dysport or Botox just below the surface of the skin in the underarm area. You will receive multiple injections that cover the area of concern. This treatment is not painful as fine needles are used to perform this treatment and a topical numbing is applied to the area before the treatment begins. This procedure is quick and easy and takes approximately 15–20 minutes!

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE PROCEDURE?

Prior to your treatment we ask you to shave or trim the underarm area 2–3 days before your treatment, stop taking blood thinners a week before and to avoid wearing antiperspirant the day of treatment.

When TO EXPECT RESULTS AND HOW LONG WILL RESULTS LAST?

After the treatment, it will take between 2–4 days for you to start to notice a reduction in sweating. It can take 2 weeks for maximum results. The effects of Botox can last anywhere from 6–12 months varying from individuals. Dysport and Botox treatment is temporary, which means future sessions are needed and you may need to repeat your treatment in about 6 months.

What TO EXPECT after treatment?

You can resume your everyday activities immediately after. We advise you not to do any strenuous exercise or hot yoga immediately after as the injected areas may feel tender or sensitive and to avoid wearing antiperspirant for the rest of the day.

What Are The Side Effects?

Dysport and Botox has been widely studied and is very safe. Most people tolerate the injections extremely well. Side effects include slight stinging, tenderness and sometimes bruising in treated areas, however these sensations typically go away in 24 hours.
