ROSACEA & BROKEN CAPILLARIES

Rosacea -Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition where skin appears red and flushed. The most common areas affected are the mid face, cheeks, chin, and nose. This condition usually develops in adults between ages 30 to 50. While the exact cause of rosacea is unknown, it is likely due to environmental factors and genetic makeup. Some triggers include sun exposure, extreme weather, stress, intensive exercise, and alcohol. Although there is no cure, rosacea can be managed with laser treatments and continued proper home care.

Broken Capillaries - are tiny, enlarged vessels that appear beneath the surface of the skin and have a web-shaped or branch-like appearance. They are commonly found on the face or legs and are usually caused by an external disturbance to the skin. The most common causes are UV damage, extreme temperature changes, pressure changes, and trauma. These can appear at any age and can also be hormonal and hereditary.

How the procedure Works

Redness and vessels are treated with our powerful BBL system. During the treatment, the heat from wavelengths is absorbed by the hemoglobin (red protein) found in the blood vessels. When the heat is absorbed within the tiny blood vessels, it causes the vessels to constrict and collapse, reducing redness and eliminating blood vessels.

What The Procedure Feels Like

At the start of the procedure, there will be a light layer of gel applied to the treated area to cool the skin and to make it more comfortable. During the procedure you will feel mild discomfort, some heat and a light snapping sensation followed by slight tingling on the skin.

Who is a good candidate

BBL is not safe or suitable for darker skin tones since the light energy two primary targets are melanin and hemoglobin (which is in the blood). In light and medium skin tones, there is just small amounts of melanin, however in darker skin, the melanin is more concentrated and we do not want to target the natural pigment in the skin, therefor making BBL unsafe for darker skin types.

number of treatments

Typically, 3-4 sessions spaced out 4 weeks apart are recommended but varies with response to treatment. Even after one session, reduced redness is noticeable. Some vessels may disappear or lighten immediately after and some vessels may not respond and will require additional sessions.

What to expect immediately after treatment

Immediately following treatment, the treated areas will be slightly red and blemished with mild swelling and a stinging sensation. Some vessels may disappear while some may appear slightly darker or purple in color and will fade in the next few days.

when to expect results

After one session some vessels will appear faded or disappear, repeated sessions can reduce vessels by 60-80%. Redness and flushing will be reduced after 2-3 treatments. Results are long-term however will require maintenance and proper skin care and sun protection. By minimizing inflammation and developing new vessels, it is important to include the daily use of sunscreen in your skin routine.
